RUMANA STATEMENT ON NEW JERSEY'S SELECTION AS A RACE TO THE TOP FINALIST |
Assembly Republican Deputy Conference Leader Scott T. Rumana, R-Passaic, Bergen and Essex, congratulated Governor Christie today for positioning New Jersey as a finalist for the federal Race to the Top educational reform grant, which could mean an additional $400 million in federal education funding over the next four years.
"Governor Christie should be congratulated for pushing an aggressive education reform agenda that has drawn recognition from Washington," said Rumana, a member of the Assembly Education Committee. "New Jersey schools are one step closer toward getting additional money for education during these dire economic times, which would only help us to provide the quality education we all want for New Jersey's children.
"This selection also validates the governor's vision for education that will make our schools more efficient and competitive, with better student achievement," Rumana added.
